This rare shell is approximately 70-75 million years old!!!

I purchased a good stock of these years ago and I price them at the price I paid then… not the price they would be now, so it’s a great investment piece!! And I only have a limited amount left, especially in these larger sizes. Im being greedy and hoarding them 😂

Being a very delicate shell, my Ammolite is backed and topped to prevent breakage.
😍And there’s a small amount of the super rare violet colouring just to the bottom left which is very hard to capture with my camera.
The Emerald is an 8 x 6mm facet which complements the green in the Ammolite.

✨Both gems have been wrapped in high quality sterling silver filled wire. The pendant measures 50 x 20mm and comes on an 18” sterling silver curb chain.

💚 All of the world’s commercial production of Ammolite comes from a small area along the St. Mary River in southwestern Alberta, Canada.

The gem material, from the extinct species Placenticeras meeki and P. intercalare, is found only in certain horizons of the Bearpaw Formation of Late Cretaceous age (about 70 –75 million years old). Because the iridescent layer is generally thin and fragile, most Ammolite is fashioned into assembled stones.

Just 2 companies mine Ammolite from thin layers in the Bearpaw Formation where the ammonite fossils are found.

Gem quality Ammolite produces a spectacular display of iridescent colour when it is observed in reflected light. The colours of an individual stone can run the full range of the visible spectrum or be limited to just one or two colours. The colour display can rival fine opal and labradorite in its intensity and beauty.
